General Process

What information do you need to prepare an estimate?

The most helpful information includes the project type, location, measurements, photos, desired materials or finishes, known damage, access limitations, and preferred completion date. Larger projects or work involving concealed plumbing, electrical, or structural conditions may require an on-site assessment.

Do you provide free estimates?

Pricing depends on the project. Straightforward work may be estimated from detailed photos and measurements. Projects requiring troubleshooting, testing, extensive measurements, or an on-site assessment may include a service or diagnostic fee. Any applicable fee will be explained before the appointment is scheduled.

What happens after I approve an estimate?

Once the estimate is approved and any required deposit is received, we confirm material selections, order or reserve the necessary supplies, and schedule the work. You will receive clear information about the anticipated start date, project duration, and any preparation needed before we arrive.

Will I receive a written estimate?

Yes. Written estimates clearly outline the proposed scope of work, anticipated labor and material costs, payment requirements, and applicable terms. This helps ensure everyone understands what is and is not included before work begins.

Who will complete the work?

Fix to Finish Co. is owner-led and supported by a small, trusted team of skilled technicians. Chris remains personally involved in assessing the project, establishing expectations, overseeing quality, and communicating with the customer throughout the process.

Pricing and Payment

How do you determine project pricing?

Pricing is based on the scope and complexity of the work, expected labor, required materials, site conditions, travel, specialty equipment, disposal needs, and other project-specific factors. We price each project individually rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all rate.

Is the estimate the final price?

The estimate is based on the visible conditions and information available when it is prepared. The price will remain consistent as long as the scope and site conditions remain unchanged. Hidden damage, customer-requested additions, or conditions that could not reasonably be identified beforehand may affect the final cost.

Do you require a deposit?

Deposits may be required for projects involving reserved scheduling, special-order products, or material purchases. The amount and payment schedule will be clearly stated in the written estimate before approval.

Why does the deposit include material costs?

Collecting material costs in advance allows us to purchase or reserve the products needed for your project without delaying the schedule. It also protects both parties when items are custom ordered, nonreturnable, or selected specifically for the customer’s property.

What payment methods do you accept?

Accepted payment methods and instructions are provided with the estimate or invoice. Depending on the project, payment may be available electronically through a secure payment link or through another approved method.

When is the remaining balance due?

Unless a different payment schedule is included in the agreement, the remaining balance is generally due when the agreed-upon work is substantially complete. Larger projects may use progress payments tied to specific phases or milestones.

Can you work within a specific budget?

Yes. If we know your priorities and target budget, we can help identify practical options and separate essential work from optional upgrades. We will not reduce necessary safety or quality standards simply to reach a lower price.

Do you offer labor-only service if I purchase the materials?

In many cases, yes. Customer-supplied materials must be appropriate for the application, complete, undamaged, and available before installation. Additional labor, return visits, or product modifications caused by missing, incorrect, or defective items may result in added charges.

Scheduling and Project Timing

How soon can my project be scheduled?

Scheduling depends on the project’s size, technician availability, material lead times, and your location. Smaller repairs may be scheduled sooner, while remodeling work may require additional planning. We will provide the most realistic scheduling information available when the estimate is approved.

How long will the project take?

The expected duration is discussed before work begins. Weather, material availability, inspection requirements, concealed conditions, and approved changes can affect the timeline. If something changes, we will communicate the impact as soon as possible.

Do I need to be home while the work is being completed?

Not always. Access arrangements can often be made in advance. Someone authorized to make decisions should remain available by phone in case an unexpected condition or project question arises.

What should I do before you arrive?

Please remove personal belongings, valuables, pets, and fragile items from the immediate work area whenever possible. We will let you know if furniture, appliances, vehicles, or other obstacles need to be moved before the appointment.

What if I need to reschedule or cancel?

Please notify us as soon as possible. Deposits, special-order materials, reserved labor, and late cancellations may be subject to the terms included in your estimate or work agreement.

Changes and Additional Work

What happens if you discover hidden damage?

We will pause the affected portion of the work, document the condition when practical, and explain the available options. Additional work will not proceed until the revised scope and cost have been discussed and approved, except when immediate action is reasonably necessary to prevent injury or further property damage.

Can I add more work after the project has started?

Usually, yes. Additional requests are handled as a change to the original scope. We will explain any effect on labor, materials, price, and completion time before adding the work.

What is a change order?

A change order is a written record of work added, removed, or modified after the original estimate was approved. It documents the revised scope, price, and potential schedule impact so both parties understand the change.

Can I change materials or finishes after approving the estimate?

Changes may be possible if the original materials have not already been purchased, fabricated, or installed. Restocking fees, price differences, additional labor, and schedule delays may apply.

What if the project takes longer than expected?

If added time results from an approved change, concealed condition, customer-supplied material issue, or another circumstance outside the original scope, we will explain the reason and any added cost before continuing whenever practical.

Workmanship, Property Protection, and Safety

Are you insured?

Yes. Fix to Finish Co. is insured, giving customers added confidence that their property and project are being handled by a responsible business.

Do you guarantee your workmanship?

We stand behind the quality of our completed workmanship. Any applicable workmanship coverage, limitations, and manufacturer warranties will be outlined in the estimate or project agreement.

Will you protect and clean the work area?

Yes. We take reasonable steps to protect nearby surfaces and contain project debris. At the end of the work, we remove job-related debris included in the scope and leave the immediate work area orderly.

Do you handle permits and inspections?

Permit and inspection requirements vary by project and location. When they are required, responsibility for obtaining them will be identified before work begins. Permit and inspection fees may be listed separately unless specifically included in the estimate.

Do you follow building codes and manufacturer instructions?

Work is completed with attention to applicable requirements, accepted installation practices, and manufacturer instructions. If an existing condition prevents a safe or proper installation, we will explain what must be corrected before proceeding.

What if my home has older wiring, plumbing, or previous repairs?

Older properties often contain conditions that cannot be confirmed until work begins. We will identify visible concerns during the assessment and communicate any newly discovered issues before expanding the scope.

Do you provide materials?

Yes. We can source standard project materials and include them in the estimate. Customers may also select or supply certain fixtures, finishes, and products when agreed upon in advance.

Do you remove old materials and debris?

Removal and disposal can be included when specified in the estimate. Large quantities, hazardous materials, appliances, or unusually heavy debris may require a separate disposal charge.

Services and Coverage

What types of projects do you handle?

Fix to Finish Co. provides home repairs, maintenance, remodeling, painting, flooring, carpentry, mounting, fixture installation, and many common plumbing, electrical, and appliance-related services. We handle everything from individual repairs to multi-room property improvements.

Do you work on rental and commercial properties?

Yes. We serve homeowners, landlords, property managers, offices, retail spaces, and light commercial properties. Work can be coordinated to help minimize disruption to tenants, employees, customers, and daily operations.

What areas do you serve?

We serve customers throughout portions of Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana. Contact us with the property address to confirm availability for your location.

For an active fire, gas odor, major electrical hazard, or rapidly spreading water emergency, contact the appropriate emergency service or utility provider first.

What if my project requires a service you do not provide?

If the work falls outside our capabilities or requires a specialty provider, we will be honest about it. When possible, we can help identify the appropriate type of professional needed for the next step.
